Undersea.... |

In my old hometown of Amherst, New York, there was a little restaurant that I used to love called The Grapevine. Now, as you might expect for a favorite restaurant, the food was excellent. The best part of the meal, though, was not the food, but the many, many fishtanks on display in the walls of the restaurant. |

The owners, I think, had a particular fondness for seahorses....for many of the tanks contained these interesting little creatures. Not being much of an "Fish Person" myself, I had never given them too much study...until one day when I stopped in for lunch, and found myself with a front-row seat at a seahorse show.
They were so exotic with their lithe, colorful bodies and little pony heads....and yet their grazing and herd behavior was just like the other horses that I love so much....

Naturally, my new fascination with seahorses inspired a whole new series of cut paper collages. |
