One hundred years ago....the daily newspaper was a treasure-trove of equine images and advertisements. Horses were deeply woven into the fabric of everyday life. Horse pictures and references could be found even in unlikely places--such as prayer books.

These assemblages of assorted ephemera are the result of my personal research and the collections of odds-and-ends that I tend to accumulate while gathering reference materials and other items which inspire my paintings. Some folks have complained that I have "ruined" these items by mounting and framing them....but the truth is that these fragile artifacts would have been lost to time completely had not someone taken the time to unearth them from dusty Used Books Stores, musty attics, and the vendors at the back of flea markets with all of the boxes of old postcards and the racks of old magazines.....
