Stephanie M. Dunatov
Stephanie M. Dunatov creates art that combines her love of horses with her love of history. Her work features equines of all types and generally contains historical details or references to classical themes.
"I have always been inspired by horse stories. Historical accounts and mythological tales are usually my starting points when exploring a theme. The methods and materials that I choose to express my vision are a reflection of the adventure.
Observers will see a great deal of variety in my work because I like to experiment with many different styles and mediums. I enjoy the challenge of collage--sometimes working with “found” objects and sometimes creating complex patterns by cutting designs into colored papers. I also paint in both oils and acrylics--often adding textured mediums and reflective, metallic, or interference colors. My intent is to portray legendary and historic horse stories in a whole new light."
The artist was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. The rich history and beautiful architecture of the Western New York area is evident in many of her historical pieces.
Ms. Dunatov currently resides with her family in the beautiful town of Aiken, South Carolina.
